RGPLP - General Practitioner needed for Galiano Health Care Centre

Role and Facility Information

You are a GP for a complex Rural community, with the support of the MOAs, and will work 9am to 5pm, Monday to Wednesday, with a closure for lunch from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. You will work in the clinic, with 20 minute appointments per patient, as well as be the Emergency walk-in physician if necessary. Your first morning will be blocked off for orientation with the MOAs, and will include a tour, narcotic count and general information about the clinic. Your last afternoon will include ample administration time. You will also provide evening/overnight on-call on designated dates.

Clinic Composition

1 Physician, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 2 MOAs, 1 MOR

Local Resources

Lab (every Thursday 0700-1000), physio, mental health, massage therapy, public health, home nursing, dental services. All of these specialties are either weekly or monthly.

Emergency Framework

Ambulance service and fire available. Our urgent care treatment room is used for emergencies. We have an EKG machine. Helipad and Water Taxi.

Call Expectations

Weekend on-call coverage is from Friday night 1700 to 0800 on Monday morning. All evening call from 5pm to 8am (per locum assignment). 1 weekend per month, 5 nights per month, one evening per week.

Clinic Policy

Patients on Opioids have agreements and are strictly managed. Office urine drug screens available, and Medinet agreements in place.

The clinic does not provide accommodation.

Accommodation Description

Locum is required to contact Locums for Rural BC for accommodation bookings. Some accommodation options include Driftwood Village and Galiano Inn.

Most Convenient Mode of Transportation

Sail via BC Ferries with car as car is required for the Island. If a car is needed, one might be available through the Galiano Inn.
