Role and Facility Information
The beautiful lower Sunshine Coast is an idyllic location for a locum. The Sunshine Coast is made up of seaside towns and is a rural area located a short 45 minute ferry ride from West Vancouver. There is easy access to extensive outdoor activities ranging from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and cross country skiing. Sechelt Hospital is a modern facility with an updated ambulatory care unit and a four bed critical care unit. The residing internists provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and exercise stress testing and also hold teaching appointments through UBC. Call is presently Level 1 with each internist on call 1:3. Locum accommodation can often be facilitated. Seven (7) day locums are typical but can be longer or shorter.

About the Clinic
Clinic Description
Clinic Composition
Three general internists share an office in downtown Sechelt, a three-minute drive from the hospital. We have excellent staff who are very supportive.
Local Resources
Maternity, lab, blood bank, x-ray, ultrasound, CT, mammography, fluoroscop, pharmacy, extended care, home nursing, physio, occupational therapy, mental health and addictions, social workers. Anesthesiology on-call.
Emergency Framework
Ambulance including Air Ambulance services.
Call Expectations
One in three call, with specific dates flexible. We invite you to contact us to discuss the general workload of call.
CME Schedule
Morning rounds on the third and fourth Fridays of the month.

Sechelt is a “C” level community on the RSA Communities Designation list. We can often facilitate accommodation for locums. LRBC will reimburse for travel to and from the locum community.

Sail via BC Ferries or fly via Harbour Air or Sunshine Coast Air. Car rentals available in town, close to the seaplane arrivals.
