You are eligible to be a host physician in the Rural FP Anesthesia Locum Program (RFPALP) if you:
- Have obtained training in anesthesia core service area, have been recognized by the HA, have been granted privileges to practice in that same specialty area in a hospital in a designated rural community, and actively participate in providing on-call support in the designated core service area. Practise more than 70 km from a major medical centre where specialists or family practitioner anesthetists (FPAs) provide similar specialty services.
- Permanently practice in an eligible Rural Practice Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) community with 7 or fewer FPAs in the community. Determination of FPA numbers is based on the information provided by each HA for the RRP Flat Fee quarterly confirmations to the Ministry of Health
You may request up to 35 days coverage per fiscal year for RSA eligible communities.
Each request must be a minimum of 2 days. No physician may access the Rural Locum Programs simultaneously.
Note: If you practise in a community that is not part of the RSA, you are not eligible for the RFPALP. Contact BC Health Careers to determine your eligibility to post your locum vacancy on their website.
